Other questions about graduating
Questions in July
Q: I have failed one or more modules. Can I go to graduation?
A: You won't have an Honours degree in time for the ceremony in July. If you have resit opportunities, your results will be processed in due course and if you are successful you will be invited to graduate at a later ceremony. You will receive a transcript of your results to use if you need them for a job or further qualification.
If you wish to take a lesser qualification, such as an Ordinary degree, please let the Ceremonies Office know.
Q: I've passed my modules but one of the grades has a star next to it. What does this mean?
A: You have a resit opportunity if you wish to take it. You can choose whether to graduate with the grade as it is, or do the resit and graduate later (in February).
Q: I have passed 100 credits and I have an F+ on a module. Can this result be condoned or discounted?
A: No. Condoning only applies at Level 4 and 5, but not at Level 6. Although the University discounts some grades for your classification, you have to achieve 360 credits for an Honours degree.
Q: I need more advice. Help!
A: The helpline on 01604 892468 is manned for several weeks in June and July. You can speak to an Academic Advisor between 9-12 and 1-4.
Questions in September
If after all your resit opportunities you have failed level 6 modules adding up to more than 40 credits, you may be able to continue with your studies but will not be eligible for an Honours degree.
Q: I have passed my modules. When can I graduate?
A: See the information on the Award Ceremonies FAQ
Q: I have failed one or more modules. What next?
A: Your options are to accept an Ordinary degree, if you have 300 credits or more, or repeat/substitute the failed modules. You will be sent a decision form with your results to fill in and return. You are advised to speak to a member of the Financial Guidance team to check on fees and student support for continuing your study part-time.
