Research Staff Network

The Research Staff Network (RSN) is a new initiative prompted by the Graduate School's launch of the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers in July 2009. It was a successful event with a nearly 100% turn-out and engagement from all stakeholders. The feedback from the participants was excellent. The most important outcome of the day was setting up a collaborative implementation action plan.

The Concordat is an agreement between RCUK, UUK, the HE funding bodies and other partners and represents a significant development in national policy to support good management of researchers and their careers. Effective implementation of its principles will strengthen the institution's research environment and benefit individual researchers, thereby sustain research excellence.

RSN is aimed at Early Career Researchers, contract researchers and any staff interested in research. Would you like the opportunity to meet with other research active staff at Northampton? Would you like to share skills and experiences in a cross disciplinary environment? Can you spare an hour around lunch time every other month? If so, then you should join the Research Staff Network.

Benefits of joining the Research Staff Network:

  • Peer led learning sessions
  • Networking opportunities
  • Research expertise sharing
  • Complimentary lunch

The launch event of the RSN took place on the 24th November 2009. The RSN programme for this year has a mixture of formal and informal sessions, throughout the year. In the informal session you can offer to act as a facilitator on a subject chosen by you. This will be a session where you are invited to bring best practice ideas and expertise around a topic; it will be a lunch time session with lunch and drinks provided.
