Staff volunteering
Giving something back to the community in which you live, work or study has the amazing effect that it benefits everyone.
Those who you help feel the benefit of the work you have done and, as the volunteer, you reap the benefits of making a difference to someone else's life.
The University of Northampton Centre for Community Volunteering encourages staff and students in the University to get involved in the many projects which impact on the surrounding community.
Volunteering is not only about charity and giving, but also about having fun, meeting new people, and working together. We need to spread the word to groups, organisations and individuals that students and staff volunteers are here, and are ready to help.
Centre Manager Linda Davis says that one of the most important aspects of her work is the development of an ethos throughout the University which accepts that volunteering is part of the institution's daily life and makes a valuable contribution to community engagement.
Volunteering is much more than giving a few hours of your time, it's about learning new skills, which will be highly regarded when looking for employment or changing career paths.
