Landlords wishing to let accommodation to students at The University of Northampton must first register with the Northampton Student Accreditation Scheme (NSAS) or the East Midlands Landlord Accreditation Scheme (EMLAS).
Once properties have been inspected and accredited by the NSAS, or the landlord has been EMLAS accredited, accommodation can be advertised to students on The University of Northampton's Housing List.
Northampton Student Accreditation Scheme (NSAS)
NSAS is a partnership between The University of Northampton, the National Landlords Association and Northampton Borough Council. Landlords must register all of their properties before they can be advertised to students. The scheme also offers information and assistance to landlords.
The NSAS application form and full terms and conditions can be found on Northampton Borough Council's website.
East Midlands Landlord Accreditation Scheme (EMLAS)
The East Midlands Landlord Accreditation Scheme (EMLAS) is a new region-wide accreditation scheme which accredits landlords rather than individual properties.
Any residential landlord in the region can join EMLAS. The scheme can provide briefing sessions on new legislation, resource material and guidance, professional development courses and inclusion on the EMLAS property database and EMLAS website.
Letting agents are also invited to join the scheme, provided they are already a member of a regulatory organisation.
