Environmental Working Group
The Environmental Working Group is a cross-functional group that formulates strategy, policy, procedures, implementation structure, objectives and targets for all significant operations across The University of Northampton that have environmental impact.
Functions of the Environmental Working Group
The University's environmental policy was drawn up and is monitored by the Group.
The Environmental Working Group has agreed terms of reference.
The University's environmental performance targets have been set by the Environmental Working Group.
Environmental Management System
The University has been participating in the EcoCampus scheme since 2009 in order to help develop and implement an Environmental Management System. The University achieved the EcoCampus Bronze award in September 2010 and Silver award in May 2011, and is currently working towards the Gold award.
Environmental reporting
The University has participated in the higher education sector 'Universities that Count' programme between 2008 and 2010.
From 2011 the University is participating in the higher education sector's new LiFE Index to help manage, measure, improve and promote its social responsibility and sustainability performance.
