Sustainable travel and transport

The University of Northampton is based in Northampton, Northamptonshire, UK. See How to find us for details on where we are located and for information on travelling to The University of Northampton.

The University has two campuses, Park Campus and Avenue Campus, which are situated less than two miles apart, both on the northern side of Northampton town centre.

Travel options

The University encourages students, staff and visitors to consider using alternative transport methods when travelling to the campuses in order to reduce the congestion and pollution caused by single occupancy car travel. The University's Green Travel Plan highlights the ways in which the University is developing alternative travel options.

Local bus services run to and from the University on a regular basis and link to Northampton town centre, railway station, bus station, Moulton College, Northampton College and other key locations.

Northampton railway station is located just to the west of Northampton town centre. Train services operate between Northampton and London Euston, Birmingham New Street, Crewe and other intermediate stations.

Cycling is a cheap, healthy and environmentally friendly way of travelling. There are over 350 bicycle spaces located across both campuses.

If you are travelling to the University by car we have limited car parking available at Avenue Campus and Park Campus. See our page on student car parking or visitor parking for more information.

The University operates an internet-based car-sharing scheme for use by students and staff.
