Sustainable procurement

The University of Northampton spends millions of pounds each year procuring goods and services. We recognise that it is our responsibility to do this in a sustainable manner.

We are working to ensure environmental and social factors are taken into account in procurement decisions and that suppliers and contractors undertake sustainable practises.

The University has been engaged as a partner in a government-funded project investigating how to implement sustainable procurement in the higher education sector. The project run by the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges, brought together a number of institutions and sector bodies and culminated in March 2008.
