Facilities and resources

The School provides a well-equipped environment for students to maximise the potential of their work and realise their creative vision.

Gallery

The gallery provides a space for exhibiting a range of creative work including academic research and student shows.

Dance studio

The University's dedicated, purpose-built dance studio is a state-of-the-art facility for dance and performance students. The studio has a maple-sprung floor, full-length mirrors, music system and audio equipment.

Performance spaces

There are fully-equipped drama and performance studios where diverse staging and lighting can be adapted. 

Digital imaging laboratory

Impressive digital imaging facilities and large-scale digital printing and projection equipment are available.  

Photographic darkrooms

Spacious darkrooms enable both monochrome and colour photograph development.

Music recording studio and practice rooms

Students have access to an excellent professional recording studio, dedicated digital audio workstations and performance rooms.

Printed textiles and printmaking workshops

The University has professionally equipped textile print workshops, providing equipment for dyeing, steaming, screen-printing, digital fabric printing, laser cutting, stitching and weaving.

Sculpture workshops

Sculpture workshops offer facilities to work with a range of materials including wood, metal, and clay.

Printmaking workshops

Printmaking is an impressively resourced workshop, providing screenprint, etching, collagraph and lithography resources in a generous space.

Painting studios

Light, well lit and spacious studios are provided for painting, with resources for canvas preparation.

3D fashion and footwear workshops

These workshops contain specialist sewing machinery as well as high-tech printing, knitting and weaving equipment. Students also have access to the leather tannery and other facilities in the British School of Leather Technology based at Park Campus. 

Radio station and television studio

Students from the Division of Media, English and Culture can benefit from a state-of-the-art television studio and newly constructed radio station.
