The University of Northampton is made up of six academic schools, each specialising in a particular area of study.
The School of The Arts prides itself on creating a vibrant and stimulating environment for students. Its annual highlights include the Graduate Fashion Show and the end of year Summer Show, where students exhibit their work in a professional setting. Students can study in the subject areas of Design, Fashion and Textiles, Fine Art, Performance, Media, English and Culture.
The School of Education has a national reputation for excellence in
both teaching and research in professional education and training. The
School has over 30 years experience in teacher training and continues to
build on its success having been awarded by Ofsted and the Training and
Development Agency for Schools for its outstanding results.
The School of Health delivers education and training to develop students into confident and capable health professionals. The School has a multi-disciplinary approach to health, with cross-professional learning being a focus of all courses. Courses are offered in a range of areas including Nursing, Midwifery, Occupational Therapy and Paramedic Science.
Northampton Business School (NBS) is renowned for high quality teaching and research, supported by strong links with industry and commerce. With over 70 staff we are able to draw on expertise for teaching, research and consultancy in six subject groups: Accounting and Finance, IT, Business and Economics, Leadership and Human Resources, Marketing and Leisure Management. NBS has over 3500 students including 1000 international and European students.
The School of Science and Technology is one of the world's leading specialist institutions for the study of leather technology, resource efficiency, lift engineering and non-destructive testing. The School formed the Northants Engineering Training Partnership over 20 years ago, a group of established companies that provide industry placements to hand-selected Engineering students each year.
The School of Social Sciences provides a wide range of traditional and modern disciplines. Many courses offer practical experience, for instance Law students can put their skills into practice in the University's purpose-built Moot Room, providing a realistic courtroom setting. Each year, a number of Politics and Sociology students undertake unique placements in the House of Commons.
