Guidance for current external examiners.
External examiners are appointed for a period of four years. Once the nomination has been approved, examiners receive a a letter of appointment together with full specifications of the modules to be covered and the most recent version of the External Examiner Handbook. Appointed examiners are asked to confirm their acceptance of the role within one month.
Please also see the HEA's new External Examiner Handbook for more general information.
All newly appointed external examiners are invited to attend an induction day which provides an opportunity to meet with academic staff from the subject areas, learn more about the University's policies and procedures and network with other examiners.
The next induction day will take place in February 2013.
