What does social enterprise mean to me?

A student of The University of Northampton

Social enterprises can be defined as businesses of any scale or ownership that, as part of their central mission, meet a clear societal need either through their core activities, or which dedicates their profits to such a need, or both.

Social enterprise is increasingly being integrated across student courses at the University. The integration of social enterprise into teaching and learning and research throughout the University is based on the needs of our students.

Students will have the opportunity to complete accredited work placement modules with existing or start-up social enterprises. This will enable students to earn money, apply their skills to benefit regional social enterprises and significantly enhance their employability.
