Tutorials and workshops

If you were training for the Olympics you may need to work on aspects of weight, speed or flexibility to improve your performance and to gain insights into how your body works. Visiting the Centre for Academic Practice should be regarded in a similar way - you wish to work on aspects of your academic work to improve your performance and to gain a better understanding of how you learn. As with athletes, taking responsibility for your own development leads to success.

Tutorials

CfAP tutors can help all students to improve their performance - ranging from students who may be achieving average grades of 'B' and need guidance on how to develop learning strategies to achieve an 'A' grade. Another student may be working very hard, only to achieve a 'D' grade, and may aim to achieve a C+ in the short term, and to continue to improve from there.

Our most popular tutorials are: essay/report writing, dissertations, critical thinking, critical analysis and referencing - any topic related to students' academic work is legitimate - just ask.

Our one-to-one tutorials can be booked for a virtual appointment using skype, telephone appointment or appointment in-person.

ALL appointments are kept confidential unless you agree to share your experience with your subject/personal tutor.

Tutorial times

Normally the first appointment lasts one hour - following that tutorials are half-hour appointments and negotiated with the CfAP tutor.
