NILE for staff
NILE stands for the Northampton Integrated Learning Environment, which provides access to, and support and resources for web-based and web-enhanced courses at the University. NILE is supported by software called Blackboard.
The purpose of NILE is to create an online space where tutors and students can communicate and share information and resources. It provides a repository for documents, course handbooks etc., a space for discussion and debate, and a forum for online assessment and submission of assignments. NILE can be accessed 24 hours a day from any computer with an internet connection, providing increased flexibility for course delivery and a wide variety of tools for learning and teaching.
There is a range of support resources available, including user guides for NILE, Turnitin and other technologies. These can be accessed via the Help tab on NILE (click on Support & Resources for the user guides). For more help, complete the NILE enquiry form (on the Help tab) or contact the Learning Technology Team.Important: If you use Internet Explorer as your default web browser on your computer, you may experience some issues with the new version of NILE. See the browser compatibility page for more information on how to resolve these issues. If you are having difficulty using the features in NILE, you may also want to check our known issues page on the LearnTech blog.
