Research development
The University of Northampton aspires to be a research informed institution, with our teaching underpinned by new knowledge generated by our academics. As a result our research and enterprise activities will be linked to the student experience.
To do this, the University has set the following objectives:
- To increase income from research and enterprise
- Increase the number of staff involved by having more staff with doctorates, more staff generating income and more staff publishing
- To improve infrastructure by increasing spend per full-time student
The University has support structures in place to assist research staff and other academics in developing their research skills and enterprise ideas. The Research Staff Network (RSN) is a peer-led group offering opportunities for networking and research expertise sharing.
Support is also available for researchers in the library, including services such as an institutional repository, online journals and provision of software such as RefWorks and SPSS.
The University's Research and Strategic Bidding Office can support you throughout the process of obtaining funding for your research, from identifying funders to support with pulling the application together. The Business and Commercial Services Team support enterprise activities, engaging with clients and offering advice on issues such as intellectual property, contracts and spin outs.
