Careers and Employability staff

Catherine Klimes
Catherine Klimes - Careers and Employability Service - Team Leader (full-time)- Responsible for The University of Northampton Careers and Employability Service
- Overall responsibility for the service and careers adviser team
- Particular responsibility for the Northampton Business School and the Graduate School
- Key point of contact for recruiters, employers and external bodies who engage with the University on behalf of their organisations
- Internally sit on a range of working groups and committees on behalf of CES and DELTAE
- Externally engaged in a number of EM University Working Groups, Collaborative Bids, Projects and Events
- Personal interest: The International and Global Talent Pool
Carmel Davies
Carmel Davies - Careers and Employability Adviser (part-time)Carmel has been working with the Careers and Employability Service for almost 11 years now. Academic Schools that she is currently responsible for working with are the School of Education, The School of the Arts and Northampton College.
Her remit is to support academic staff in these two schools in ensuring their students are equipped with the necessary employability skills they will need to succeed in their future careers. Additionally, she works one-to-one with students who attend the careers centre.
Laura Swallow
Laura Swallow - Careers and Employability Adviser
Laura is a Careers and Employability Adviser and has worked for the Careers and Employability Service for two and half years. Prior to this Laura worked for Student Services dealing with a range of student queries on the help desk.
Laura delivers one-to-one guidance and advice and has responsibility for liaising and delivering group sessions to the School of Social Sciences, HE courses at Moulton College and the School of Arts. Laura is also involved in developing the teams' website and along with the Information Officer has responsibility for the Career Information Centres.
Lisa Hartnell
Lisa Hartnell - PDP & Employability Award Coordinator (part-time)
Lisa has worked for the University since April 2011 and joined the Careers and Employability Service in January 2012.
Lisa manages the Northampton Employability Award; a University-wide initiative for all undergraduate students wishing to enhance their employability and get a competitive edge over their peers.
Lisa is also the main contact for staff and students wishing to engage in and be supported with Personal Development Planning.
Lynn Finn
Lynn Finn - Careers and Employability AdviserQualifications

Lynn has been part of the Careers and Employability Service for three years. Initially trained to lecture in mathematics, Lynn has experienced a range of roles in the Education, Employment and Training sectors since moving to Northamptonshire: Adult Education; Contract Management (customer and provider); Open University; a Sector Skills Council; and various part-time teaching roles including working on the project which would later emerge as CfAP.
Lynn is firmly committed to the lifelong learning agenda and has undertaken a diverse mix of courses: Horse Owner's certificate at one end right through to an MBA.
Shelley Garner
Shelley Garner - Careers Information Officer (full-time)
Shelley is the Careers Information Officer in the Careers and Employability Service. She has worked for the University since October 2008. Prior to that, Shelley was the Training and Development Co-ordinator at the logistics company Norbert Dentressangle.
Shelley's position is a front-line role providing students and graduates with information and maintaining the careers library. Part of her role is also liaising with employers, advertising and promoting graduate and placement vacancies and organising employer visits. Shelley represents the University on both the East Midlands Joint Information and the Employer Liaison Group.
