Finding information for your assignments

In order to begin and progress with your assignment you need to be able to find useful and relevant information.

Library catalogue

We have an online catalogue to find information about the availability and location of all items held in the Library, including books, e-books, research reports, statistical data and media items.

Journal articles

If you need to find a journal article, which you have the full details for, then you can use the Library's Find my reference tool as a quick and easy way to find out if we have access to it.

General research

For general research, Metalib is the place where all of your resources are kept together by subject, such as databases, full-text electronic journals and e-books, as well as links to good quality academic websites.

Resources from other libraries

If you need resources which we don't stock, you can get access with a SCONUL card to other libraries, as well as free Inter-library loans at dissertation level and above.

Referencing

You will need to reference assignments consistently, in order not to lose marks. These Referencing guides will ensure that you are on the right track, whatever your subject. If you want to, you can take advantage of our online referencing tutorial, Liberation, or use the University's reference management software, RefWorks.

Help and support

If you are struggling with finding information then you can book a one-to-one appointment with an Academic Librarian whilst students with additional needs can also register for ELSA (Extra Library Support and Assistance).
