Athens username and password
Your Athens account is an authentication system which allows you to access the majority of the databases that this Library subscribes to; it is not a database of materials in its own right.
Your Athens account will be created automatically shortly after you register at University of Northampton. You will receive an email message providing details of your Athens username and password in your University email account.
Forgotten your password?
If you have forgotten your Athens password please follow the instructions below:
- Visit the Forgotten Athens Password page
- Enter your Athens username (don't' forget the ucn prefix e.g. ucnjbrown000)
- Enter your University email address
- Click Submit
You will receive an email with a link to a web page where you can choose your own password.
Password doesn't work?
If your password doesn't appear to work, try checking the following:
- Make sure that Caps Lock is not set on your keyboard - Athens passwords are case sensitive
- Check that you are not confusing letters and numbers e.g. the letter oh (O) with the number zero (0), or letter el (l) with number one (1)
Changing your password
You cannot change your Athens account username, but you can change your password by following these instructions:
- Log on to the MyAthens web site
- Enter the username and password that you have now and click Login
- Click on the My Account button
- Enter your current password and the new password you would like to have. You must then enter this again in the Confirm Password box
- Click on Submit
There are conditions on length of password, characters allowed and so on, which are given on screen.
Never received your username and password?
If you have not received your Athens username and password please complete the Athens account form and your details will be emailed to you.
