Wastes management collection
About us
The University of Northampton is widely regarded as a centre of excellence in wastes management education. Our library houses one of the largest collections on wastes management in Europe and is open to visitors.
If you would like to visit us or have any enquiries about the collection, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Academic Support Team at Avenue.
Origins
The University of Northampton's wastes management collection consists largely of donated wastes management material from AEA Technology. At AEA Technology the collection formed the Waste Management Information Bureau Library and was sponsored by the Department of the Environment. The collection was originally formed in 1974 and its purpose was to act as a UK national referral centre. It was widely regarded as the pre-eminent wastes management library in Europe.
The collection
In 2001 AEA Technology donated the library to University College Northampton. The collection has been funded by the SITA Trust via the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme and is supported by the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management and the Environment Agency.
There are now thousands of catalogued items, which are grouped into three main sections: books, journals and articles (individual journal articles, reports, conference papers, leaflets and other sorts of information resource) which you can search for in the Library catalogue by selecting the waste management collection from the advanced search option page.
