1. Very Easy Guide to PDP
What is PDP?
Personal Development Planning, or PDP is 'A structured and supported process undertaken by an individual to reflect upon their own learning, performance and achievement, and to plan for their personal, educational and career development' (QAA Guidelines 2009)
The PDP process reinforces student learning and is fully in sympathy with traditional academic values. It consists of activities which encourage personal reflection and aspiration in a range of situations: the personal tutorial, discussion with peers, strategies to improve grades, and a variety of active learning tasks or assignments.
Encouraging PDP activity with your students therefore addresses several agendas at once - more engaged learners, successful progression & achievement, retention (and widening participation), key skills development, work-related or context-based learning, entrepreneurship, employability and career management.
