Leisure Management
Northampton Business School at The University of Northampton offers leisure-related courses at foundation degree, undergraduate and postgraduate levels, all of which embrace the multi-disciplinary nature of the profession.
Our curriculum is aligned with, and recognised by professional bodies to ensure that our graduates are equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitudes demanded by employers. Our staff are approachable and supportive, and use their subject passion to create an engaging and inspiring learning environment.
We involve practitioners in our teaching to reinforce the relevance of theory in practice, and use our relationships with industry to create opportunities for work placements, internships, study visits and graduate posts. We make extensive use of client projects, through which our students are able to apply their learning to authentic problems and showcase their work to prospective employers.
Study visits are embedded in our curriculum, providing behind-the-scenes experience of leisure service provision and opportunities to learn from senior practitioners. Through consistent exposure to the profession we ensure that our graduates leave with a theoretical understanding of the discipline and the skills and experience to make a valuable contribution to the industry, whilst our emphasis on emerging themes in professional practice ensures that these attributes retain their relevance within the dynamic industry contexts in which they will work.
