School and college visits
Information for teachers
Groups of students studying specific topics or working on extended projects are welcome to come and visit The University of Northampton's libraries.
Our librarians can introduce your students to our print resources, including collections that may be specific to their areas of study. Students will be shown how to search the library catalogue and will be advised on Google smart searching.
Sessions usually last around an hour.
Due to licensing restrictions we regret that access to photocopying and the University's online resources cannot be made available to school students.
Unfortunately, due to the start of our academic year, we are unable to offer visits during September and October.
Membership
If, after a visit to our libraries, students in Years 12 and 13 feel that some of our resources would be useful for them, they may apply for a one year free Associate Membership. This will allow them to:
- borrow up to 5 items at any one time
- borrow Normal or Week loans
- borrow DVDs and VHS tapes
Download the Associate Membership (School) application form.
The form will require a counter signature by a member of school staff. Once completed, the form will need to be returned to us along with a passport sized photograph of the applicant, either by post or in person at Avenue Library. We will process the application and post the membership card to the student's home address.
