Programme Improvement Through Alumni Research (PITAR) FAQs

01 What is the PITAR Project? 02 When and how does it take place? 03 Who will be asked to take part?

The Information and Planning Unit Surveys Team at the University of Northampton will be surveying alumni, their employers and academic staff.

A population, of Alumni, will be a representative sample across all subject areas at JACS level 2. Those alumni who have previously chosen to opt out of the Destination of Leavers in Higher Education will be excluded due to the similarity between the two surveys.

Employers who will be invited to participate in the project will be those with a known or declared track record of employing graduates from the University of Northampton- first degree, other undergraduate and post graduate. The final sample will have fair representation from public, private and third sector. It will also consist of an even number of different size companies as defined by their DTI codes. Employers, based on their holding company location, will also provide a mix of regional, national and international organisations.

04 What is being asked? 05 Who has access to alumni contact details? 06 Are the results confidential? 07 Alumni: Why do I need a survey ID? 08 How do I take part? 09 Can I opt out of the survey? 10 I have already completed the survey and I recently received a reminder. Do I have to complete it again? 11 How will the results from the survey be used? 12 Who do I contact for further information?
