General information

Karen Beaulieu originally trained as an occupational therapist in Glasgow. She worked in clinical practice within England for 17 years resulting in her becoming an occupational therapy manger in Bath. Karen’s clinical specialities include: neurosurgery, neurology, neuropsychiatry and brain injury. She completed her MSc occupational therapy at Exeter University, and researched the management of aggression following a brain injury. In 2002 Karen became a lecturer at the University of Northampton and submitted her PhD in September 2015.

Teaching

Karen leads the MSc Advanced Professional Practice Occupational Therapy Programme.

Karen also module leads the MSc Professional Practice module which contributes to multiple School of Health programme awards. 

Research

Karen’s PhD researched the return to paid work lived experiences of individuals following a brain injury and employers.

Karen’s main research interests are in qualitative, brain injury and educational research, but she also supervises MSc students using a range of research methods and topics.
