Entry requirements

  • A first degree and/or professional qualifications at level 5 or higher with work experience
  • Applicants are expected to be in suitable employment
  • Exemptions for those holding level 7 awards in management from Edexcel, CMI, ILM, ABE, NCC
  • English language requirements for those whose first language is not English is IELTS 6.5 or its equivalent

Course content

The award is aimed at those already in work and eager to further their Continuous Professional Development (CPD). A wide range of people find themselves requiring formal qualifications in order to progress their career. This flexible qualification is designed to integrate with the qualifications and CPD provided by the main UK providers and professional bodies.

The programme is available via distance learning and learners would normally take 30 credits per semester (60 credits per year). If learners choose to study in this way, the course would be structured as below:

Year one = Postgraduate Certificate of 60 credits

Year two = Postgraduate Diploma of 60 credits

Year three = MA 60 credits (including dissertation)

The programme facilitates flexible study for individuals and allows applicants to tailor their programme from a wide choice of modules via negotiation with the course leader. The course is ideal for those with professional postgraduate (level 7) diplomas from such bodies as the ILM, CMI, Edexcel, ABE or NCC for example. Such applicants will normally receive at least 60 credits in exemptions from the Certificate stage and progress directly to the Diploma stage.

Special course features

It is the aim of this course that graduates will eventually become senior managers in their organisation. The course provides opportunities for managers to develop higher specialist and advanced level knowledge, skills and leadership capacities. The course equips students with the knowledge and skills for advancement in leadership and management and it is expected that the programme will considerably enhance the career pathways for these students.

There are over 20 modules to choose from in this broad management and leadership programme.

This programme is ideal for those who wish to formalise their Continuous Professional Development in order to enhance their career prospects. Students completing the programme can expect to have a career boost whether in the public services or commercial organisations.

Fees quoted are for home and EU students commencing their course in the academic year 2012/13. Tuition fees are payable for each year of the course. The fees are subject to annual increases in subsequent academic years.
