Entry requirements

Applicants will have achieved a HND/Foundation Degree in sports coaching. The course content is broadly a continuation of that of the Foundation Degree in Sports Performance and Coaching offered by Moulton College and The University of Northampton. Applicants would normally be expected to achieve at least four merit grades in the second stage Foundation Degree.

Course content

It aims to provide knowledge and skills in sports performance and coaching as well as equipping students to respond to challenges within the field of sports performance. The course is supported by excellent practical facilities based at Moulton College.

The course focuses upon the necessary requirements for successful coaches and sports scientists and meets the demands of both amateur and professional sport in the UK. It concentrates upon various elements including coaching, theory and practice, sports nutrition and ergogenic aids, strength and conditioning, human performance, managing and leading for sports performance.

Students will complete an individual project, take part in coaching practice, and study modules on nutrition, leadership and performance.

Assessment

The course includes a wide variety of assessment methods including written work, presentations, practical assessment and time constrained assessment. Assessment is continuous throughout the course.

Current 'Home' and EU undergraduate students: Information on 2012/13 tuition fees

Fees quoted are for home and EU students commencing their course in the academic year 2012/13. Tuition fees are payable for each year of the course. The fees are subject to annual increases in subsequent academic years.

Full time fees

£6000

Current 2011/12 'home' and EU, full time, undergraduate students

will pay a full time fee of £3465 in 2012/13 provided they:

- have not taken break in study (other than the normal vacation period)

- continue on the same mode of study

Part-time fees

  • BA and BSc and Joint Honours degrees consist of 360 credits in total
  • Foundation Degrees and HND programmes consist of 240 credits in total
  • Students who enrol on 100 or 120 credits in an academic year will be liable for full time fees
  • 20 credits £1000
  • 40 credits £2000
  • 60 credits £3000
  • 80 credits £4000
  • 90 credits £4500
