A wide range of qualifications are accepted. Applicants may also be offered a place on the basis of their experience and we would welcome applications from mature students or people currently working in industry who are seeking Continuing Professional Development or part-time opportunities. All applicants are expected to demonstrate an interest in the environment. Typical offers are 120-140 UCAS tariff points to include a grade D or equivalent.

Course content
This new two-year programme aims to develop knowledge and practical skills in a variety of wildlife conservation and countryside management related subjects. It considers the ecology of a wide range of habitats and wildlife in an applied, 'hands-on' context.
Students will be able to select a number of options with which to specialise their interests. Industrial placement forms a key part of this course whereby students must also complete an industrial placement of their choice within the environmental and countryside management sector. Examples of work placements in previous allied programmes include secondments with wildlife organisations, environmental consultancies, local authorities, local estates, organisations working within protected landscapes etc.
Stage one
The first stage provides an introduction to nature conservation and wildlife management, with modules relating to wildlife identification, habitat management, practical conservation skills and wider environmental and land resource issues.

Assessment
Students are assessed using a wide range of assessment methods including practical project work, presentations, reports, written work, oral presentations and time-constrained tests. Students also produce a project related to their work placement in the form of an academic poster.
Career opportunities
Students may progress to the Land Management BSc (Hons) (top-up). Recent graduates have successfully furthered their careers in The Environment Agency, The Wildlife Trusts, rights of way, local authorities and within ecological consultancies.
