Entry requirements

Applicants will have achieved a HND/Foundation Degree in a sports therapy. The course content is broadly similar to that of the Foundation Degree in Sports Therapy offered by Moulton College and The University of Northampton. Applicants would normally be expected to achieve at least four merit grades in the second stage Foundation Degree.

Course content

It aims to provide knowledge and skills in sports therapy as well as equipping students to respond to challenges within the field of sports therapy and injury rehabilitation. The course is supported by excellent practical facilities based at Moulton College.

The course focuses upon advanced sports therapy skills, including vertebral mobilisations and spinal anatomy as well as advanced rehabilitation and injury and the holistic treatment of sport injuries. There is a heavy emphasis placed upon clinical experience to develop clinical reasoning skills and justification for treatment in a variety of applied settings, as well as a set number of compulsory clinical hours.

Students will complete an individual project, as well as compulsory clinical hours, along with modules on rehabilitation, research methods and clinical practice.

Assessment

The course includes a wide variety of assessment methods including written work, presentations, practical assessment and timeconstrained assessment. Assessment is continuous throughout the course. Students will be required to undertake a final year exam to demonstrate competency within Sports Therapy.

Career opportunities

Many potential careers are open to students completing this course. These include opportunities in the area of sports therapy such as sports clinics, professional clubs, areas of rehabilitation, performance enhancement, training and fitness and research. Further opportunities could include sports and clinical management, promotion work or sports administrators.

Current 'Home' and EU undergraduate students: Information on 2012/13 tuition fees

Fees quoted are for home and EU students commencing their course in the academic year 2012/13. Tuition fees are payable for each year of the course. The fees are subject to annual increases in subsequent academic years.

Full time fees

£6000

Current 2011/12 'home' and EU, full time, undergraduate students

will pay a full time fee of £3465 in 2012/13 provided they:

- have not taken break in study (other than the normal vacation period)

- continue on the same mode of study

Part-time fees

  • BA and BSc and Joint Honours degrees consist of 360 credits in total
  • Foundation Degrees and HND programmes consist of 240 credits in total
  • Students who enrol on 100 or 120 credits in an academic year will be liable for full time fees
  • 20 credits £1000
  • 40 credits £2000
  • 60 credits £3000
  • 80 credits £4000
  • 90 credits £4500
