Course content
This modular curriculum allows study of key disciplines within sport development including work placements. A strong emphasis is placed on the application of theory to practical issues such as participation, performance, coaching and government involvement in sport.
Alongside this degree, students are encouraged to take an active engagement in practical work experience both within the course and alongside. We also offer the opportunity of attaining coaching qualifications whilst studying.
Stage one
Students will pursue coursework at stage one that provides an underpinning to the various biological, psychological and sociological components of sport science.
Stage two
At stages two and three, students will undertake coursework and practical experiences designed to provide in-depth understanding and analysis of the sport development domain. The course provides a progressive programme of study. Stage one students are introduced to the core disciplines that underpin the academic analysis of sport. Key themes include the socio-historical development of sport, the development of sport organisations, psychological applications of sport and professional studies. Stage two develops students' application and analysis skills through focusing on application of the working environment with theoretical issues in the sport.

Stage three allows students to develop their specialist interest in sport development and gain further practical experience. Students will undertake a dissertation project at stage three.
