This award has been designed specially for applicants who may already be in business in the creative industries or considering starting their own creative industries business.
Students learn how to identify, research, evaluate, and initiate projects. This includes all factors from realisation and exploitation of intellectual property to specific creative business opportunities. Students develop a deep knowledge and understanding of the creative industries business landscape, market and consumer motivational forces, and the risks involved in the undertaking of new business opportunities within the creative industries.

Applicants for postgraduate awards are normally expected to have achieved a first or second class honours degree or Postgraduate Diploma of a UK University, or its equivalent in terms of experience relevant to the programme of study.

Course content
This certificate constitutes an innovative model in that it facilitates a rich interdisciplinary learning opportunity. Students with different specialisms work alongside each other on generic modules yet can respond in their own specialist area in assessment items. Modules are designed for students to recognise and understand existing business organisations and markets and apply them to their arts/design specialisms. They will develop motivational techniques alongside sound business and research strategies to allow the creation and implementation of creative business opportunities.

Application notes
Applicants would normally be expected to attend an interview with a folder of work which demonstrates the level and quality of their creative production.
Qualifications from other countries will be accepted, provided that they are deemed to be equivalent and provide an appropriate basis for further study on a specific programme.
Applicants must demonstrate a sufficient command of the English language to allow them to succeed on the course. Where English is not the first language or the applicant has not been educated mainly in English, s/he should possess a recognised English Language qualification at the approved level.

Fees quoted are for home and EU students commencing their course in the academic year 2012/13. Tuition fees are payable for each year of the course. The fees are subject to annual increases in subsequent academic years.
