Health Studies is the interdisciplinary study of the multiple determinants of health and ill-health. It explores the social, psychological and biological factors that contribute to wellbeing. It is also the study of health care systems, health policy and ethics in health care and health research.

Attendance
Attendance on this course can be on a full-time or a part-time basis to allow students to combine work and study. For each module, students will need to attend six teaching days time-tabled across one semester. Full-time students will normally study three modules (60 credits) per trimester and part-time students will study one module (20 credits) per trimester.

The MSc in Health Studies is a multi-professional award which has been developed to meet the growing demands of people who wish to combine continuing professional development in the area of health with the achievement of a recognised academic qualification.
The course aims to provide access to a wide range of contemporary modules that will be relevant to the learning needs of healthcare professionals and others working in related fields. The award has been designed to provide students with the opportunity to share professional knowledge and insight in a multi-professional forum, reflecting on the place of their professional expertise and practice in relation to other disciplines contributing to healthcare.

Fees quoted are for home and EU students commencing their course in the academic year 2012/13. Tuition fees are payable for each year of the course. The fees are subject to annual increases in subsequent academic years.
