Overseas Nurses Programme
To enable nurses who have qualified overseas to transfer knowledge and skills to the UK healthcare setting and gain registration on the NMC register of Nurses and Midwives.

Attendance
12-24 weeks full-time. The length of the programme is dependent on individual Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirements. Courses take place in October, January, April and July.

- IELTS 7.0 on the academic paper
- Evidence of satisfactory health and character
- Approved supervised practice placement

Course content
To enable nurses who have qualified overseas to transfer knowledge and skills to the UK healthcare setting. The assessment strategy provides a tool through which the student can provide evidence of competence to practice in order to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
The course comprises two Level Five modules:
Module One
- 20 protected learning days in line with NMC guidelines
- The content includes cultural awareness, organisation and structure of healthcare in the UK, cultural issues in healthcare and the role of healthcare professionals
- The module may include college study days, practice-based study days and visits to alternative healthcare settings
Module Two
- Practice-based module
- Supervised practice hours are determined on an individual basis by the NMC
- Supervised practice is undertaken in an approved clinical setting
- Students are supported by an identified, appropriately qualified mentor
