Coco Careers is a new Social Enterprise. It is a joint venture between the University of Northampton and local businessmen Maughan Johnson & Martin Chamberlain.
It has three simple objectives:
- Improving undergraduate and graduate employability
- Delivering commercially aware, productive, industry ready graduates into graduate level jobs
- Providing scholarships and bursaries for studying at The University of Northampton
Coco Careers are establishing several new links with businesses throughout the Northamptonshire area and beyond and are currently looking to get graduates and undergraduates in the area signed up in order to place them in a career that they want to pursue. If you are interested in this then please contact Michael Pettigrew and don't forget to check out the website at http://www.cococareers.co.uk/
One of the many success stories to come out of Coco Careers comes in the shape of BA Business Studies undergraduate Luke Wale.
Luke, now in his second year of study at the University of Northampton, was very keen to gain valuable work experience whilst studying for his degree.
After starting a work experience placement for the Student Union, he met the Managing Director of Coco Careers and made an excellent first impression. Luke then followed this up by Linking-in with the company by following their various social media sites. When a local Design company, MossFace approached Coco Careers to help fulfil a short-term contract, Luke was at the forefront of their mind.
Luke proved his dedication and skills in this initial assignment and was offered a part time role that worked with his academic diary. He is now working with MossFace as a Web Developer and is responsible for developing websites and web apps for a number of large national companies and SME's across the UK.
